if i were the romney/ryan campaign i would probably try to trash that reporter too. but that wasn't all that happened here. >> if you take a look at the gun laws we have, i don't think president obama is proposing more gun laws. we have strong gun laws. >> that's news too. it's especially news in light of the fact that it the nra is currently running these ads in a bunch of swing states. it's a huge ad buy too. they say chipping away at your right, chipping away at your freedom. now they are attacking our second amendment rights. you can stop them right now. defend freedom. defeat obama. that's what the ads say. but then there's paul ryan, the republican vice presidential nominee saying president obama is not proposing any attack on gun rights. he's not proposing anymore gun laws. that's true. the only gun-related changes in law we have had from president obama have been expansions of gun rights. but the republicans are not supposed to admit that. not when the nra is running this scary ad campaign saying otherwise. and not when the republicans own candidate has a gun

never mind an overhaul, so mitt romney and paul ryan need to get more specific. robert reich served as secretary as labor, mark mckinnon advised the clinton campaign. chris christie is a well-known romney surrogate. i remember when he was running for governor of new jersey and a lot of people thought there's no way he can win. i'm not going to tell you what i'm going to cut. i'm going the get the list, get in office and do it. he won and "the new york times" wrote voters embrace d mr. christie, though he offered no detail on how he would fix the state's problems. can this strategy work for mitt romney when it comes to his tax plan? >> well, first of all, as the cofounder of no labels, i like the idea of bringing the congress together and to negotiate bringing these solutions together with the president involved. now, that said, there are realities. i think bold solutions are required. now, i'm not an economist and having me talk about tax policy is like having paris hilton explain -- >> that's rather aggressive analogy, by the way. keep going. >> well, they laid

now we're coming up to romney and ryan. not this debate specifically coming after president obama's gaffe before. >> that was a big thing for everybody here in the room. this was a big debate obviously because of president obama's performance last time. glen, that's why you paid a lot of attention here tonight, correct? >> yes, i think biden came on real strong and confident. i think he needed to do that because obama's performance last week was disappointing. >> and do you think the president will be up to it now that the bar's been raised next week? >> we'll see. >> you're still undecided. >> yes. >> sam, you're still undecided. you gave me an answer earlier. you said, you know, they've been running for president for months and months and months. you have the internet, newspapers, radio, tv. you're getting bombarded by ads here. why can't you make up your mind? >> as i said before, we work for a living. you know, a lot of us get up at 4:00 a.m., go to work for 12, 14 hours. we're at home with our kids. we're not doing thi

when the country is getting upset, they blame romney and ryan for getting people upset. they keep changing their story. this is not leadership looks like. we need clarity, not confusion. we need accountability and no more excuses. this tragedy would be troubling in and of itself and tragic in and of itself. but unfortunately we are witnessing the unraveling of the obama foreign policy. when you say it is ok to impose devastating cuts on our military or that we do not need any more m-1 tanks, we are projecting weakness. when we project weakness abroad, our enemies become more brazen. they are more likely to test us. our allies are less likely to trust us. as hot spots are growing abroad, the economy is not growing at home. that is the problem we have to focus on. the economy is growing slower than last year. last year it grew slower than the year before. all the obama is offering is more of the same. we have a big choice to make. do we want more stagnation that fosters dependency or do we want a growing economy that creates opportunities and jobs? [applause] in a nutshell

unfortunately, the burden is on romney and ryan. we already know what to expect with biden and with obama. but unfortunately, romney and ryan have the burden to say we can change the trajectory of the conversation of what's going on in the country and do it well, and that didn't happen with clarity and conviction last night. >> i half agree with carol on that point. but the other part of the equation -- >> i don't think you can agree with that point, because the only poll i have seen about undecided was done by any major network was cbs and it was pretty clear who won the debate amongst uncommitted voters, ryan 31%, biden 50%. he smashed him which was my reading of it in the moment. >> look, people are voting right now in ohio. so if you've made up your mind in ohio and you watched last night's debate, you were energized and went out to the polls and voted, that makes an impact on the election. governor romney can't win without ohio. there are, there is a narrow sliver of voters that are still in play in some of these states. i thin
